THE move of a big name bar chain to Time Square has been put on hold.

Back in 2022, it was revealed that Revolution would be moving into the £142million development.

The bar and restaurant was set to occupy the space bordering Academy Way, near the Time Square Car Park.

It was expected to occupy two units, totalling 7,580sq ft.

Councillors approved the lease during a Town Hall cabinet meeting in 2022, but the news of the chain opening has gone cold since.

As more than 18 months have now passed since the Revolution plan was announced, the Warrington Guardian asked for an update on the move.

A council spokesperson has confirmed that Revolution has now put the move ‘on hold’.

Revolution Bars Group, which also comprises of the Revolucion de Cuba brand, was founded in the 1990s and now has 56 locations nationally.

It was stated last summer that up to 50 jobs could be created by the opening of a Warrington branch.

After approving the lease, Cllr Tony Higgins, cabinet member for leisure and community, said that businesses are ‘queuing up wanting to come into the towns to open new venues and to invest’.

He also said Warrington has a ‘booming’ town centre.

Among the food and drink offerings available at present at Time Square are Warrington Market and Cookhouse, The Botanist, Costello’s Bar, Gravity Social, Parlour and Heavenly Desserts.

Yum Cha Chinese restaurant has also just moved onto the development, with other units occupied by the University of Chester and Gravity Trampoline Park.
