A CALL for information has been issued after a police car collided with a barrier on the M62 earlier today, January 2.
Merseyside Police have urged anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward.
A police vehicle collided into a barrier just before 3pm near junction five of the M62 westbound.
The M62 was closed at junction five whilst the incident was dealt with, but this has now been lifted.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that emergency services attended a road collision involving a police vehicle on M62 westbound, near junction five today, Tuesday 2 January 2024.
“Just before 3pm it was reported that a police car had collided into a barrier. No other vehicles were involved.
“Two officers sustained slight injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
“A road closure was in place at junction five while the incident was being dealt with and it has now reopened.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam is asked to contact police via @MerPolCC on Twitter (X) or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, quoting log number 536 of 2 January 2024.”
North west ambulance service have been contacted for comment.
