A NUMBER of churches in Warrington are set to benefit from a funding pot of around £25,000.
13 of the town's places of worship will receive grants from the Government in 2024.
The money comes from the Government's 'Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme,' which has given back £346million to places of worship since 2010.
According to the Government: "Nearly 5,000 religious buildings in the United Kingdom have received a share of up to £42million in public funding, as the Government continues its support for the conservation of listed places of worship across the country."
The 13 churches in Warrington set to benefit from the grant are:
- Holy Trinity Church - £705.57
- Warrington Quaker Meeting House - £1,637.20
- St Peter and St Michael - £162.80
- Warburton St Werburgh - £3,947.92
- Christ Church Padgate - £586
- St Thomas' Church Golborne - £420
- St Lewis - £321
- St Wilfrid's Church - £4,687.72
- All Saints Church Daresbury - £2,569.91
- Church of St James, Wilderspool Causeway - £1,887
- St John the Evangelist - £169
- Sacred Heart Church - £678.20
- St. Mary's, Great Sankey - £7,002.80
Warrington's churches will receive a total of £24,775.12 thanks to the scheme.
Arts and heritage minister Lord Parkinson of Whitley Bay said: "The Listed Places of Worship Scheme supports these precious buildings, which are cherished by people of all faiths and none.
"With nearly 5,000 supported over the past year alone, I’m glad to see the difference it has made to visitors, worshippers, and the people who look after them for the benefit of future generations."
