WARRINGTON Borough Council has provided an update for those awaiting green bin collections.

The green bins are provided as part of a paid-for subscription service, meaning not every resident has one.

Those that do have been left scratching their heads for weeks, as the bin strikes came to an end and there was no update on when green bins would be taken in by the council.

However, Warrington Borough Council has now said when it wants to start collections of the green bins again.

The full update reads: "We are grateful for your patience and we know you have been waiting for an update on garden waste collections for a number of weeks.

"When waste collections resumed on Friday 8 December, our priority was to collect black bin waste and blue bin household recycling.

"We will be doing two garden waste collections early in the New Year as part of your 2023 subscription.

"We expect the first of these two garden waste collections will take place from the week of Monday, January 8, 2024.

"We’ll let you know [the] confirmed dates by Wednesday, January 3.

"The first collection will be to take existing garden waste in your green bin.

"We appreciate there are many households that have needed their green bins emptying for a long time.

"Our second collection and final collection of your 2023 subscription will give you the chance to fill up your green bins with any remaining garden waste.

"We know that many of you have a lot of additional garden waste that will need collecting.

"We understand you may have many questions and we will update you again early in the New Year."
