AVANTI West Coast will drop its 'peak time' fare hikes over the festive period.
With services expected to be at their busiest on Saturday, December 23, and Wednesday, December 27, Avanti has announced that it will again be removing its peak restrictions.
For two weeks, from December 22 until January 7, the West Coast Main Line operator will be withdrawing peak fares.
It says this is 'to give customers greater flexibility when making their travel plans, as they look forward to spending time with friends and family over the festive period.'
All ticket types, including the cheaper 'advance' tickets and the new 'superfare,' for travel dates until the New Year are on sale.
Customers are strongly advised to book in advance as well as make a seat reservation for their journey.
Services will finish earlier on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and start later on December 27 and New Year’s Day.
Engineering work will also see a much-reduced timetable on January 1.
There are no services on Christmas and Boxing Day.
An Avanti West Coast spokesperson said: “Our services are expected to be really busy in the run up to Christmas and for the return to work in the New Year.
"We’re encouraging customers to book ahead, make a reservation and arrive at their station in good time."
