A LATCHFORD schoolboy is set to appear on TV screens across the country on Christmas Day.
Daniel Green Lavado is just 13 years old, and he will feature on Channel 4's 'The Piano,' which is due to be broadcast on Christmas Day.
'The Piano' was aired earlier this year, and saw amateur pianists compete for a spot in a concert that was held in London; the judges of the show were pop artist Mika, and renowned musician Lang Lang.
Daniel's appearance on the show was filmed when he was 12 years old, and he performed a version of 'Iris' by the Goo Goo Dolls.
He was later invited to a Goo Goo Dolls concert in Manchester, where he was invited onto the stage to perform with the band.
Now, Daniel will appear in the festive edition of 'The Piano,' which is hosted by Claudia Winkelman and was filmed at King's Cross Station, in London.
When asked why he thinks music is important at Christmas, the Latchford teenager said: "Music brings families together and music is basically a universal language; everybody knows music, and everybody loves music and there’s always emotion in it.
"When music is played at Christmas it brings people closer together, which is the whole meaning of Christmas."
Daniel taught himself to play the piano during Covid-19 lockdowns after he watched the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
After performing in series one of 'The Piano,' Daniel says his confidence has grown massively.
He added: "I feel like performing in the first series gave me a lot more confidence.
"In season one, I was really nervous before my performance, and I thought I was going to faint.
"Performing on the Christmas special was a completely different feeling; it was so much easier to do it and it didn't feel as scary.
"I felt a lot more confident."
The 13-year-old impressed the judges on his first appearance in the show; Daniel said: "Hearing that Mika thinks that I'm capable of doing this in the future really inspired me to work harder with piano, so it was good to see him and Lang Lang again.
"Being complimented by some of the greatest musicians in the world is one of my favourite memories of my life."
'The Piano' will air on Christmas Day at 7.20pm on Channel 4.
