A MAN died weeks after being hit by an ambulance.
An inquest has been opened into the death of Warrington resident Thomas Leslie Rustage.
It is understood Mr Rustage had been walking to a shop near his home on Reynolds Street on October 25 when he was hit by a transport ambulance.
He was checked by paramedics at the scene and later taken to hospital but did not require any treatment.
However, he died at his home on November 23, aged 79.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 12.49pm on Wednesday, October 25, police were made aware of a low-speed collision involving a pedestrian on Reynolds Road, Warrington.
“The caller reported that a 79-year-old local man had been in a minor collision with an ambulance.
“The man was checked at the scene by paramedics before returning to his home address.
“He was later taken to a local hospital by a family member, although he did not require any treatment.”
Senior coroner Jacqueline Devonish opened an inquest into Mr Rustage’s death at Cheshire Coroner’s Court on Wednesday (December 13).
A case review will take place on February 11 ahead of the full inquest on March 27.
