GREAT Sankey will welcome almost 70 independent traders for a festive market which will be held at the weekend.

The market, organised by Independent Street, will take place on Saturday, December 16, and is set to provide festive fun for the whole family.

Lisa Cowley, from Independent Street, said: "[There will be] unique gifts to quirky artwork to tasty street food, cheeky tipples and amazing cakes, pies and cheeses. 

"If you’re looking at stocking up on weekend goodies or for the perfect gift with local provenance, the Great Sankey Artisan Market is the place.

There will be live music in the form of the Phoenix Choir, as well as market-regular Olly Flavell.

The Great Sankey artisan Christmas market will take place on Saturday, December 16, between 10am-4pm at the Woodlands Pub, off Liverpool Road - the event is free, and dog-friendly.
