RESIDENTS have been issued with advice on which bins to put out on which days.

It comes as Warrington Borough Council attempts to catch up on collections following months of disruption due to strikes.

The dispute between refuse workers, represented by union Unite, and the council, lasted from the beginning of October until December 7.

During this period, many residents only had their bins collected once in 10 weeks.

The council attempted to force strikers back to work by way of a High Court injunction, however this bid failed at the Royal Courts of Justice.

However, an agreement was reached by members of Unite and the council following meetings that took place last week.

With refuse workers returning to work after ending their industrial action, residents have been asking which bins to put out on which days.

The Warrington Guardian asked for a list of areas that are due to have their bins collected this week, which days this will be, and what bins residents should put out.

However, as bin collections return to ‘normal’, this information was not available on request.

For example, tomorrow, Tuesday, will see black bins collected in Birchwood.

But there are also a few small pockets in Birchwood where blue bins will be emptied instead, as the collections are not routed entirely by ward area.

The same applies to Croft tomorrow, and multiple other areas into this week and next.

A spokesman for the council said: “The answer for now is to check your bin stickers at home, or to do a quick search on the postcode checker online.

“If you are not sure when your bins should be collected, visit warrington.gov.uk/your-next-bin-collection-day and enter your postcode.

“As we said last week, if all else fails, put both bins out if in any doubt, and we will collect the correct bin for you.”
