POLICE closed a major road in Widnes this afternoon, Friday, following concerns for the safety of a girl.
At around 1.50pm, officers were called to reports for the concerns for the safety of a girl on Watkinson Way.
Emergency services attended the scene and the girl was rushed to hospital via an air ambulance.
Road closures were in place at the time, including the A557, with motorists being advised to avoid the area.
There was heavy traffic between Mill Lane to A533 Mersey Gateway following the incident.
