AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of an 84-year-old man from Woolston who died after falling in his home.
Michael Bretherton died on November 17 this year, following an unwitnessed fall at his home on Greymist Avenue, Woolston.
Mr Bretherton fell in his bedroom at around 3am, the inquest heard.
Presiding over the inquest opening was the senior coroner for Cheshire, Jacqueline Devonish.
The police officer attending the inquest explained that Mr Bretherton alerted carers following his fall at 3am, but nobody came to his assistance.
It was at 7.30am when the day carer attended Mr Bretherton's home that he was found on his bedroom floor.
He was then taken to Warrington Hospital by paramedics, and was found to have an internal head injury.
Michael Bretherton died at the age of 84 at Warrington Hospital on November 17, 2023 - the full inquest has been adjourned, and is due to be heard at Cheshire Coroner's Court in Warrington on April 3, 2024.
