A THREE-YEAR deal has been agreed aiming to transform the lives of young people in Warrington.

Wire Regeneration, the joint venture between developer Langtree and Warrington Council, will provide support, awareness and volunteer time at Warrington Youth Zone.

“We’re delighted to be involved and will be working with our business network and friends to help sustain its excellent work and its contribution to social cohesion.”

“Warrington Youth Zone delivers a tremendous service to the town and we want to highlight the work it does supporting young people,” explained Wire Regeneration’s chairman,  Steven Broomhead.

“It’s already proving a fruitful partnership and we’re working with our business network to encourage them to play their part in sustaining the Youth Zone’s contribution to Warrington’s young people.”

The council’s Cabinet member for Children’s Services, Cllr Sarah Hall, said: “The Youth Zone does such important work in supporting and inspiring Warrington’s young people. It really has gone from strength to strength since it opened the doors to its new home on Dallam Lane last year. It’s therefore little surprise that an increasing number of key partners across Warrington are pledging their support to the Youth Zone.”

The first joint event between the two partners was a guided visit to the Youth Zone for Wire Regeneration tenants and parishioners from St James’s church on November 30, which enabled them to see first-hand the work that goes on there. This will be followed by a production of the musical Oliver! by members of Warrington Youth Zone on December 14 at St James’s Church on Wilderspool Causeway.

Commenting on the partnership, Sophie Bentley, head of fundraising at Warrington Youth Zone, said: “The services that we off are vital and we need the support of Warrington’s corporate community to help ensure that we’re here for our town’s young people. They face a wide range of challenges but with our support and guidance they can meet them head-on. With Wire Regeneration’s backing we can deliver more of our vital services and I’m delighted that they’ve made a three-year commitment.”
