VIDEO footage has been released of the moment Brianna Ghey left her home on the day of her death.

Jurors in the trial of two youths accused of her murder saw the footage during day three at Manchester Crown Court today, Wednesday.

It came as the prosecution and police pieced together the movements of both Brianna and the two accused, a girl from Warrington and a boy from Leigh – all three aged 16.

Jurors heard today that the female defendant, referred to as X, 'previously tried to kill Birchwood student Brianna with an overdose'.

She later died in Culcheth Linear Park on February 11, having been stabbed 28 times.

Statements were heard in court today from people who were in the park on February 11 who noticed the defendants and Brianna, as well as from Brianna’s mother Esther Ghey and the driver of the bus that took Brianna to Culcheth.

The court also heard that X watched her “favourite film”, Sweeney Todd, for the “9,000th time” and discussed which knife her co-defendant, referred to as Y, would use, the night before the murder.

In messages sent on the evening of February 10, girl X asked boy Y which knife he would bring when they met Brianna, jurors were told.

The court heard Y said: “The hunting knife I showed you in person as well as on the phone,” and when the girl asked if it would “definitely 100 per cent kill her”, Y replied: “Yes.”

She told him: “I’ve just put my favourite film on. I’m watching it for like the 9,000th time,” the trial heard.

In the messages read to the court, X said the film was Sweeney Todd and told boy Y he should watch it, adding: “He kills people with one of the sharpest blades in the world.”

The court heard they planned to meet Brianna on January 28, but at the “last minute”, she was unable to come.

Afterwards, X told Y in a message that Brianna would be able to meet them on Tuesday, after school and he replied: “I’ve got revision and I’m not bringing a knife,” the jury heard.

The trial heard that later that day, X messaged Y saying: “Let’s kill Brianna tomorrow 6pm.”

The court heard that Y told her he was unable to carry out the killing on a “school night”.

It was heard that X said in a message: “I don’t want to wait, I just want her to die. I want to see pure horror on her face and hear her scream in pain.”

In another message, X said: “ I really want one of its eyes. They have pretty eyes,” jurors were told.

In earlier messages, on January 23, X told Y she knew a lot about US serial killer Richard Ramirez, known as The Night Stalker, with the court hearing that she added: “I could talk about him for like two hours, including quotes and dates of stuff”.

Both defendants deny murder. The trial continues.

Cheshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service remind everyone that criminal proceedings against both defendants are active, and that they have the right to a fair trial.

It is extremely important that there should be no commenting or sharing of information or speculation which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.

Due to their age, reporting restrictions are in place for both defendants, entitling them to anonymity, as well as other children involved in the evidence.
