A WORRYING incident saw a man try to lure a woman into his car by falsely telling her he was a policeman.

Cheshire Police has confirmed it is investigating the report which occurred on Broad Lane, between Grappenhall and Appleton Thorn.

Thankfully, the woman did not get in the car and walked away, with the driver of the car then leaving the scene.

CCTV enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with any information, no matter how small, is asked to report it.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 4.45pm on Thursday, November 9, we received a report of an incident that occurred earlier that day.

“At around 1pm, it was reported that a young woman was walking along Broad Lane, Warrington, when she was stopped by a vehicle and offered a lift.

“When she declined, the male driver informed her he was a police officer. The woman carried on walking and the car drove off.

“No police officers were in the area at that time and CCTV enquires are ongoing.”
