A STOCKTON Heath company has won a prestigious clean energy award.

SocialCru Renewables, which has an office on Chapel Lane, has been recognised for its work on environmentally friendly power.

The company has received the award for Clean Energy Research and Development which rewards ‘pioneering efforts that push boundaries and contributing to advancement’.

Speaking about the company’s recognition director Alex Gibson said: “Winning a green energy award means so much to myself and my business partner Neil.

“SocialCru Renewables set out on a journey to have a small smart metering company, and in the last 24 months, our vision and investment into renewable growth is now being recognised, which is a great achievement.

“This award will give us a huge opportunity to share what we do with business owners in reducing their energy bills firstly, and then implementing new technologies to further reduce operational costs.

“We are also delighted with the outcome and recognition of our internally developed up-skill programme that will see more than 60 smart meter engineers become further qualified electricians, able to work on solar power, electric vehicles, batteries and more in the near future.

“Our expansion plans continue, and by February we have ambitions to recruit a further 30 employees locally, following the demand from energy suppliers to increase headcount.

“This gives us a great opportunity to lead the way in offering turn key solutions and engineers that can deliver on all technologies.”

The proposal appears to be an exciting opportunity for any would-be engineers locally who are seeking to enter the industry.

It is an example of how the transition towards renewable energy has the potential to create new employment opportunities here in Warrington.
