A VIOLENT thug jailed for attacking his partner breached a restraining order protecting her from him after his release from prison.

Paul Manson was made the subject of the court order following his incarceration at Liverpool Crown Court in January.

The paranoid 43-year-old, of Warrington town centre, controlled who she could speak to and injured her in a brutal beating.

But he wilfully breached the restraining order by contacting her after being let out of jail – which is where he is now after being sent back.

Manson was charged with four counts of harassment by breach of a restraining order, to which he pleaded guilty before the magistrates’ court last month, with the case committed to Liverpool Crown Court this month for sentence.

The court heard that the defendant was previously sentenced in January for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour.

The victim had been in a relationship with Manson for around 18 months, with Manson becoming more paranoid and controlling from November 2021.

He controlled her movements, only allowing her to leave her home with his permission, and put a sim card in her phone to track her calls.

She was only permitted to talk on the phone on speakerphone, and Manson often kept the phone altogether.

In late November, as she tried to leave the property, he pulled her back by her hair with force and threw her to the floor.

Manson punched her three times to the face, leaving her with a black eye and a cut above her eyebrow which bled, before ‘stomping’ on her chest, which caused the victim pain when breathing.

Manson has a previous conviction for controlling and coercive behaviour and assault on a previous partner before this victim.

A judge jailed him for 16 months in January and made him the subject of a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim, but he did exactly that after he was released.

The defendant contacted her by phone on September 28, 29, 30 and October 16, in a clear breach of his court order.

As a result, Manson, of Hanover Street in Warrington town centre, was sentenced to 12 months immediate imprisonment.
