A KILLER who stabbed someone with scissors has been jailed again for absconding from a prison in Warrington.

Shaun Lacey was jailed for manslaughter back in 2014 for 17-and-a-half years after killing a charity worker.

He stabbed his mother’s sleeping neighbour in the chest with a pair of scissors

It was just 21 days after his early release from a prison sentence for which he was serving for beating a man with a baseball bat.

As of last month, Lacey was an inmate at HMP Thorn Cross but became a wanted man after he failed to return.

The 50-year-old was released from the open prison in Appleton Thorn on temporary licence on October 16 to an address in Newcastle-under-Lyme and was due to return to Thorn Cross on October 19.

As part of his conditions, he was supposed to stay at this address.

He attended on October 16 but failed to return on October 17 after leaving that morning.

A staff member at the address in Newcastle-under-Lyme contacted HMP Thorn Cross at 7.20pm that day to report that Lacey, originally of Staffordshire, had failed to return.

His licence was subsequently revoked at 8.30pm that day.

Lacey was then reported as wanted and was arrested by Staffordshire Police at around 3.45am on October 21.

He was found at an address on Poynton Grove in Staffordshire.

Lacey appeared before Chester Magistrates’ Court last month after pleading guilty to being a temporary released prison unlawfully at large.

He was handed a further 26 weeks in prison.
