TWO out-of-town suspects have been named ahead of a court appearance over the alleged theft of a wallet from a pensioner.

The pair, from Scunthorpe, were arrested in Yorkshire in connection with the theft of a wallet from a Warrington pensioner.

Cheshire Police posted on its social media channels last month that officers had driven through fog over the M62 to collect the suspects.

It was confirmed that the pair were sought in relation to an incident in Warrington town centre on October 16.

This saw an 80-year-old man approached by a woman who stopped him and spoke to him in a language that he did not understand.

At the same time, a man appeared and bumped into him, with the victim later noticing that his wallet was missing, leaving him shaken.

Cheshire Police confirmed that two people from the Scunthorpe area were arrested in Brighouse, west Yorkshire, and they have since been charged.

Iulian Vladu, aged 47, and Geta Marin, aged 19 – both of Sheffield Street in Scunthorpe – are due to appear before Warrington Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Wednesday, to face a charge of theft from a person in connection with the incident.

A force spokesman said: “On Friday, October 28, officers from West Yorkshire Police arrested a 19-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man at Brighouse Service Station.

“They were wanted in relation to an incident in Warrington. The pair were collected and transported to custody in Cheshire.

“Following questioning, Geta Albertina Marin, 19, and Iulian Vladu, 47, both of Sheffield Street, Scunthorpe, have both been charged with one count of theft.

“Both defendants have been bailed to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on November 22.

“The charge relates to a theft involving an 80-year-old man on Corporation Street, Warrington, on October 16.”
