TWO men have been arrested after a high-speed police pursuit ended with a crash which closed the M62 last night, Wednesday.
The motorway was closed between junctions four and five following the incident which left one person in hospital with serious injuries.
Just before 11pm, officers were on patrol and sighted a silver BMW travelling at high speed on Childwall Valley Road, travelling towards Roby Road.
Following a police pursuit, the BMW was involved in a collision with a barrier on Bowring Park Road, close to the M62 and The Rocket pub.
Two men, aged 44 and 36 years, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
Both were taken to hospital, with one man sustaining a serious injury which is not life threatening, and he is still receiving treatment.
The other suspect sustained a slight injury and is now in police custody to be interviewed.
Merseyside Police is appealing for any witnesses, and for any CCTV or dash camera footage which may have captured the incident, to get in touch to assist the investigation.
