A BIZARRE sight was spotted on the M62 in Cheshire after a car with 15 occupants was pulled over by police.

North West Motorway Police have posted about the incident after spotting the vehicle travelling along the M62 with two people for every seat in the car.

The seven-seater Vaxuhall people carrier was carrying 15 passengers, including children.

Emergency services pulled over the vehicle near the Winwick junction of the M62 after spotting it looking ‘overloaded’ and were ‘shocked’ to find more than a dozen inside.

The driver, as well as any adults in the car without seatbelts, were issued Traffic Offence Reports.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At around 11.30am today, November 15, officers stopped a black Vauxhall Zafira on the M62 near to junction 9, Winwick.

"Upon approaching the vehicle officers found that there were 15 people inside the car (11 adults and four children) who were not wearing seatbelts.

"Officers escorted the vehicle off the motorway and all of the adults were issued with Traffic Offence Reports."

The full post read: “This vehicle was stopped by a Cheshire Motorway Patrol on M62 as the vehicle looked overloaded.

“They were shocked to find 15 people in the vehicle (including children), all unrestrained.

“Driver and unrestrained adults issued Traffic Offence Reports.”
