POLICE have opened another arson investigation in relation to a car fire.

One fire engine from Warrington attended Windermere Avenue in Orford at around 6.30pm yesterday evening, Tuesday.

Firefighters used a hose reel to put out a fire involving a car that was well alight on arrival.

A thermal imaging camera was also used to check for hot spots of fire before the crew left.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “It is believed that this fire was started deliberately so police were informed.”

It comes after one fire engine from Warrington Fire Station attended Old Alder Lane near Burtonwood at around 12.45am, the early hours of that same day.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the fire involving another car using a hose reel jet.

A fire service spokesman said yesterday: “The car was suspected to have been abandoned. The incident was handed over to the police.”
