A CHILD suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Great Sankey.

The 11-year-old boy sustained a fractured skull in the incident on Liverpool Road, close to Vicarage Community Park, on Saturday afternoon.

A large emergency service presence was in attendance at the scene at around 2.15pm, with the boy taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and no arrests were made, Cheshire Police confirmed.

A spokesman for the force said: “At around 2.15pm on Saturday, November 11, police were called to reports that a black Nissan Navara had collided with a pedestrian in Warrington.

“Police attended the scene and found that the pedestrian, an 11-year-old boy, had sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.

“He was taken to hospital for further treatment.”
