THE final rehearsal for a sold-out business conference has taken place.

TEDxWarrington 2023 takes place tomorrow, Thursday, at the Trust Alliance Group conference facility on the Daresbury Park business complex, Warrington.

As team and speakers enter the final stages of event preparation, excitement has been building in the region which has rallied to support this non-commercial event.

The event theme is ‘Tackling Adversity, Embracing Change’ aimed at presenting ideas that reflect diversity, innovative spirit and strength of character.

Tickets sold out very quickly this year. For the lucky 100 who attend the live event (a condition set by the TEDx licence), the line up of nine speakers, many of them based in and around Warrington, seems set to entertain, educate and inspire. Talks this year include topics as diverse as: young onset Parkinson’s (YOPD), generative AI, breast cancer prevention, hair loss, stress management, intersectionality, life and death, invisible disability and children’s literacy.

All talks will be filmed and submitted to TED for approval for eventual display on the official TEDx YouTube Channel where they will spark curiosity, start conversations and challenge beliefs and behaviour.

The Warrington event, unlike some TEDx events, offers its speakers a dedicated support programme over 4 months, encompassing speaker coaching as well as wellbeing and promotional support.

Speakers have revealed how hard it was to keep the secret of their selection but have commended the organising team on the unbelievable support during an emotional and life-changing experience. An accolade indeed for all involved.

TEDxWarrington licensee and organiser, Kirsty James, said: "Running a TEDx event is all about showcasing talented speakers with ‘Ideas worth Spreading’. Training them to turn a talk into a TED-style talk is only one part of the recipe for TEDx success. We’ve found that speakers flourish further when they are supported personally, particularly if there are any additional needs to accommodate. I’m so proud of the whole team for the way they have embraced the volume of work and the requirement to support this year’s cohort."

Bringing a global brand such as TEDx to Warrington is no small achievement. An event of this magnitude cannot of course occur without significant support. Along with the team, who work tirelessly and voluntarily on this event, there is a long list of Warrington event partners and sponsors. Their financial support and shared values exemplify the collaborative spirit of the town.

Thanks are extended to Rebecca Wray Coaching Consultancy, Pro Business Consulting, Employee Management Limited, Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors, Warrington Business Exchange and MKM Building Supplies.

The event has also had huge support from several local partners including Bubble Customised Clothing, Cheshire’s Mix56, and Warrington & Vale Royal College who will be obtaining invaluable work experience by supporting the videography team at Prism Studios.
