TOWN Hall chiefs have set their sights on maximising economic growth in Warrington over the next decade.

The council’s cabinet endorsed the final report of key findings and recommendations of the Warrington skills commission 2023 at its meeting on Monday.

Members also agreed to support council involvement in the partnership development of future workstreams to deliver the recommendations identified, to ensure future opportunities and challenges are managed, and to maximise economic growth for Warrington over the next 10 years.

The council committed to a refreshed skills commission with partners in 2023, to further understand and support the skills and economic growth requirements of Warrington.

The recommendations have been split into three main themes – collaboration, alignment and preparation.

A report to cabinet said: “The final report of findings and recommendations pulled on evidence collated from the targeted workshops, responses received from the resident’s survey, feedback from members who attended site visits, and presentations from our expert witnesses.

“The skills commission has considered equality and diversity throughout the process.

“It has focused on how we can improve opportunities for all and support employers and skills and education providers to better understand what they can do to improve working conditions and opportunities for their current and future workforce.”
