AN appeal has been made after a cat that was found under the bonnet of a car has travelled miles away from its home in Warrington.

The driver of a van travelling from Warrington to McDonalds on Edge Lane, Liverpool, has lifted her bonnet to find a furry feline lay across the engine.

The cat was spooked and leapt out of the bonnet before the driver was able to retrieve them, and ran off in another direction.

It is suspected the cat jumped into the vehicle near the Ikea area in Westbrook, with the driver unaware of her hitchhiker until arriving at the fast food restaurant in Liverpool.

An appeal has now been made to try and locate the cat and find the owner of it too in Warrington.

The feline was wearing a white collar at the time.

On a social media post, the driver said: "Lifted the bonnet and found this guy sat there.

"I tried to grab him but he ran off. I have travelled from Warrington to Liverpool.

"He had a white collar on. I was at McDonalds, Edge Lane.

"He must be from the Warrington area and he won't be able to get home.

"Please share, I want to get him home safely."
