THE streets of Warrington were lined with people who came to pay their respects to our fallen soldiers this morning.
A Remembrance Sunday Service was held at the Warrington Cenotaph at Bridgefoot to commemorate the soldiers that fought and died for our freedom in the war.
It began with the Remembrance Day parade which started at the Town Hall and made its way over to the Warrington Cenotaph.
Residents gathered at the cenotaph awaiting the arrival of the parade which signalled the start of the Remembrance service.
The Service began at 10.59am at the war memorial, with the sounding of the Last Post.
Members of the Salvation Army played beautifully before and after the ceremony.
Residents, politicians, the mayor and members of the armed forces were among the crowds who observed a two-minute silence in honour of our fallen soldiers.
Hundreds of residents looked on as the Remembrance service began.
After the Wreath laying the brass band began to play once more.
After the service finished the parade then left and travelled back up to the Town Hall.
Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Steve Wright, said: βItβs so important that we never forget the sacrifices made by so many during times of conflict.
"Remembrance Sunday gives us the opportunity to stand with others across the country to honour all those who have sacrificed so much, and to pay tribute to our armed forces, both past and present.β
