DANCING pumpkins and ‘realistic’ ghosts were some of the surprises in store for trick-or-treaters at a haunted house in Latchford this Halloween.
Set in one of Warrington’s spookiest housing estates, the annual Edgewater Park Halloween treasure hunt has been a huge success yet again.
Residents on the estate join a committee and work ‘tirelessly’ up until the very night of October 31, making sure the event runs smoothly and is enjoyed by all children on the estate.
The terrifying trail leads children on a treasure hunt with Halloween inspired clues dotted about, eventually guiding them to the haunted house, situated on Mill Road, and a scary grotto.
While the Halloween trail maps and access to the haunted house was only available to residents of the estate, the grotto was open to all the public.
A spokesman for the Edgewater Park committee said: “Some say this could be Britain's best residential Halloween grotto open to the public, and this year it doubled in size.”
“The Edgewater Park estate in Warrington has for some years now been synonymous with Halloween, having been previously covered in the local press and with people travelling across Warrington and its neighbouring areas to view the estate in all its Halloween spookiness.
“At the heart of this is a resident committee that works tirelessly to ensure it all goes smoothly.”
Some of the spooky elements of the trial included ‘realistic ghosts, dancing pumpkins and the occasional scare’.
The terrifying grotto had a witch sat with her cauldron ready to welcome trick-or-treaters in to claim their Halloween treat.
