CULCHETH will see a carwash demolished in favour of a series of charging bays for e-vehicles.
A planning application was submitted to Warrington Borough Council's planning chiefs in March regarding the site off Warrington Road.
As per the proposals, the development will see the carwash at Culcheth's Esso garage demolished in order to pave the way for e-vehicle charging bays.
The plans that have been approved by council ask for permission for the following: "Demolition of car wash and creation of charging zone, erection of EV chargers, erection of canopy, sub-station enclosure and associated forecourt works."
According to the documents made available on the planning portal, there would be seven canopies associated with the charging bays, which would go some way to provide shelter for the equipment used.
It is not expected that the plans will impact the current provision for eight fuelling bays at the petrol station.
A decision on the plans was due by mid-May this year, but that deadline was allowed to expire due to the proposal being marked as a 'delegated decision.'
According to the decision notice available on the council's online planning portal, the development must take place by October 25, 2026.
A restriction has been placed on the use of the seven e-vehicle charging bays, meaning that they must not be operated between 11pm and 6am - the council says this is 'to prevent an increase in background noise sound levels and to protect the amenity of any residents.'
Permission was granted for the proposal on Wednesday, October 25.
