AN Indian restaurant in Culcheth has earned a major award for its hard work.
The Raj, off Common Lane, has been recognised by Curry Life, in association with Just Eat.
Now in its 25th year, The Raj has been commended by the magazine for its quality and dedication, among other things.
Scooping a major prize at an awards ceremony, The Raj has been named Editor's Choice by Curry Life.
Posting on social media, The Raj said: "First and foremost, we extend our immense gratitude to our valued customers. Your nominations and unwavering support are the bedrock of our success.
"You continually inspire us to reach for greatness.
"To our remarkable staff, you are the true champions. Your unwavering commitment keeps our ship sailing smoothly.
"Our gratitude extends to our media partners, Savasaachi Marketing Agency, for amplifying our message and vision.
"A big round of applause to all those who journeyed to London to stand by us, with a special acknowledgement to our local councillor, Wendy Maisey OBE, for taking time from her busy schedule to support Team Raj.
"Your sacrifice is truly appreciated."
The post added: "And, of course, we can't overlook the crucial role played by our suppliers and Cobra Beer.
"Your ongoing support, assistance, and guidance keep our engine running smoothly.
"To every single individual who has contributed to this remarkable journey, we are beyond thankful."
Nawaz Zakaria (Zac) son of the proprietor Anhar Mia said: “We’d like to thank all our customers for voting for us and for the support they have shown us over the last quarter of a century.
"Our goal is always to provide a high-quality dining experience and this award has shown our customers do think we’re achieving that.
"We know our customer base well, and are now seeing second and third generations as our guests in the restaurant."
Adding her comments on social media, Cllr Wendy Maisey - who has championed The Raj for a number of years - said: "The Raj is much more than a fantastic restaurant in Culcheth. The owners are very community-minded and embedded within our village.
"During the Covid-19 pandemic, they opened their kitchens to look after the most vulnerable in our community, and when we had severe flooding The Raj provided food to our brave fire brigade officers.
"The family-run business is always willing to help out and offer their restaurant as a venue for organisations fundraising for good causes. For example, the local Rotary Club chooses The Raj to hold its fundraising events."
Cllr Maisey added: "I’ve been frequenting the Raj from as far back as when they had their restaurant on Common Lane.
"You can always be guaranteed a warm welcome and I wish them every success going forward.
"I’m proud to have them as a local business in the ward I represent and live in as a councillor."
