FOR the last two months, learners at Walton Lea Partnership have been very busy with a special project.
Peter Cookson-Dean, a ranger at Walton Hall and Garden’s Children’s Zoo, set the team a challenge to build a giant bug hotel.
It has been filled with natural materials including wood, bark, pinecones, moss, and sticks to attract as many species as possible such as butterflies, moths, snails, slugs, beetles, wasps, ladybirds, and much more.
The bug hotel has now been handed over to the children’s zoo.
Not only is the donation in celebration of Walton Lea’s 25-year celebrations, but it is also in recognition of the team’s special relationship with Peter.
Jo McClure from Walton Lea said: “As the weather gets colder a bug B&B is a great hibernating place.
“Like Walton Hall, we are keen to help nature so it’s been a pleasure for our learners to build this for the children’s zoo.
“We enjoy a close working relationship with the estate, so this also seemed a perfect way to celebrate our 25th anniversary and to say thanks for the support.”
