THE campaign in memory of Brianna Ghey has now raised more than £15,300.

Peace in Mind was set up in September by Brianna's mum, Esther, alongside the Warrington Guardian, in memory of the teenager.

Brianna was killed at the age of 16 earlier this year, and her body was found in Culcheth Linear Park.

The Peace in Mind campaign is aiming to improve support for schoolchildren across England, beginning in Warrington - this will be done by providing schools with the money needed to send staff members on training courses provided by the Mindfulness in Schools Project.

A new donation from Warrington's schools and colleges has seen the Peace in Mind campaign's fundraiser top £15,300.

Schools and colleges across the town have donated a whopping £7,755 to the campaign.

Speaking about the donation, the headteacher of Culcheth High School, Chris Hunt, said: "Warrington Schools and Colleges are very proud to support the Peace in Mind campaign.

"This donation is just one part of the collective effort to support the campaign so that all young people in Warrington have the access to support that they need."

He added: "It goes hand in hand with the work that schools do as well as being supported by the Schools Link Mental Health Team and the Mental Health School Team.

"We hope to see schools, colleges, mental health teams and school staff, across Warrington, working together to provide the support network that our young people need."

Peace in Mind has already received support from Warrington Wolves, the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation, Warrington Borough Council, State of Mind, Treasure Your Wellbeing, Andy Carter MP and Charlotte Nichols MP.

Local businesses have also given support to the campaign, with fundraising being undertaken by Sam Small Ink and Twinkle Time Melts.

A day of fundraising is being held across Warrington, on what would have been Brianna's 17th birthday, November 7.

The day will entail schools and businesses being invited to wear items of pink clothing - Brianna's favourite colour - in the 'Wear Pink for Peace' day, and to donate £1 each to the charity's fundraiser.
