AN airline passenger from Warrington is facing sentence at the crown court after admitting being drunk on a plane.

Brendon Barnes committed the offence aboard a flight from the UK to Turkey.

The 39-year-old, of Evans Place in Latchford, appeared before Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Monday for a plea hearing.

This came after he was charged with being drunk on an aircraft and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Jonathan Potter, representing the prosecution explained to the court some brief facts of the case, with the offences committed on July 22 this year.

Barnes admitted being drunk on Jet2 flight LS921 from Manchester Airport to the Mediterranean resort of Dalaman in south west Turkey.

He also admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress to a woman at Manchester Airport.

The defendant indicated guilty pleas to both charges.

Magistrates subsequently committed the case to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for sentence next month.

Barnes will remain on unconditional bail until then, with the case adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
