WINWICK Church is holding a Bake Off competition and is inviting the public to judge star baker.
Home bakers in Winwick village and surrounding areas will put their skills to the test as they create a selection of wonderful cakes, pastries and savouries for a Bake Off Competition on November 11 at the village Leisure Centre.
This community-based competition has a twist in that the judges of the best entries will be - members of the public.
Organised by Margaret Bunting, a member of St Oswald’s Church, this is the fourth Bake Off event to raise money for the restoration of the historic village church.
The events have so far raised £3,500 and Margaret hopes this year will be even more successful.
She said: “We will certainly have some really special food entries thanks to our home bakers, so please come along as judges and imagine yourselves as the new Prue Leith!”
A tasting ticket will enable visitors to judge one of the six baking categories which include, sponge cakes, savouries, flans, pies and tarts. There will be a special category for children’s entries.
Judges get the chance to taste five selections of bakes from a category before voting on their favourite. Winners will be competing for a specially designed mug.
The event will take place from 12 to 3pm and tickets will cost £3 at the door. Ready, Set, Bake!
