FOUR places in Warrington have been named as finalists in the prestigious Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards.
The awards recognise tourism gems, fantastic, venues, must-see attractions, and unsung heroes.
They also give accommodation providers, eateries, and much-loved attractions the chance to show why they are a must-visit as well as highlighting just why the region’s tourism sector is among the nation’s finest.
Various places in the town have made the list, all in different categories.
Birchwood Park’s The Engine Rooms is a contender for Business Events Venue of the Year where it is up against the likes of Chester Cathedral.
Meanwhile Warrington Market could be named the winner of the Taste of Chester Award. It is competing against places such as Nunsmere Hall Hotel and New Chester Market.
Onto the Small Serviced Accommodation Provider of the Year category, The Old Post Office by Deuce Hotels Ltd is a finalist. It opened in the town centre less than a year ago.
And finally, Walton Hall and Gardens is a finalist for Visitor Attraction of the Year as well as Norton Priory Museum and Gardens which is based just down the road from Warrington in Runcorn.
The finalists, who are all from Warrington and sub-regions, Cheshire East, and Cheshire West and Chester will be going for glory at a glittering event on March 21 next year.
The ceremony will be taking place at Chester Cathedral.
Trevor Brocklebank, chair of Marketing Cheshire and Deputy Chair of Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership said: “It has been another year of exceptional entries and everyone shortlisted exemplifies the work that goes on to ensure Cheshire and Warrington is a truly wonderful place to live and visit.
“Our region welcomes over 36.3 million visitors each year creating a visitor economy valued at over £3.7 billion and the finalists all play a role in this. Judges now have the unenviable task of choosing winners in each category.”
