WARRINGTON may have escaped the wrath of Storm Agens this week.
But in today’s Looking Back, we are remembering on one of the worst bits of flooding to affect the town in recent memory.
This picture, above, shows a car marooned on Old Liverpool Road in Sankey Bridges following heavy rain in the mid 1980s.
And the driver was not really in a position to ignore the road signs which were in evidence.
The area has always been one of the worst in the town to be hit in bad weather, along with Hawley’s Lane in Dallam and the McKee and Densham Avenue areas of Longford.
