POPSTAR Sam Smith has backed the campaign to remember Brianna Ghey, who was killed in Warrington this year.
Brianna's mother, Esther, has partnered with the Warrington Guardian to spearhead the Peace in Mind campaign, in memory of her daughter.
The teenager from Birchwood was just 16 when she was found with multiple stab wounds in Culcheth Linear Park.
Peace in Mind is aiming to raise funds to send school staff from Warrington on training courses from MiSP (Mindfulness in Schools Project) in order to improve mental health support for schoolchildren.
Included in the campaign's backers are Warrington Wolves, the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation, Warrington Borough Council, Andy Carter MP, Charlotte Nichols MP, State of Mind, Treasure Your Wellbeing, and Boy George.
Now, popstar and Spectre theme song singer Sam Smith has thrown their weight behind the campaign, too.
Sharing the campaign's fundraiser on social media, Smith said: "Please donate to this beautiful cause if you can."
In the aftermath of Brianna's death, Smith wore a crown with Brianna's name on it during some performances of their current 'Gloria' tour.
The campaign in memory of Brianna Ghey has already raised more than £6,300, with a target of £50,000 in total.
Speaking about the fundraiser, Esther Ghey said: "When Tom Bedworth suggested a joint campaign with myself and the Guardian, I jumped at the opportunity.
"I knew that I wanted to do something but I felt I didn't have the knowledge or the resources to start something on my own.
"To be working alongside the Warrington Guardian with the aim of making a positive change for people in my hometown is something very special to me.
"Tom is a very genuine person and has been working hard to pull things together. I think we make a great team."
