THE Food Standards Agency has rewarded two more eateries in Warrington with solid hygiene ratings.

Responsible for ensuring establishments are compliant with hygiene regulations, the FSA inspects businesses regularly to ensure they are up to scratch.

Establishments that have been inspected will usually display a green sticker in a visible place, which is rated between one and five, to indicate their current hygiene score.

There is a delay between a business being inspected and the results being made available online via the FSA's website.

Two more of Warrington's establishments have had their ratings updated by the FSA:

  • Cafe at the Outset, Sankey Street - inspected on August 21
  • Panku, Westbrook Centre - inspected on August 21

The FSA grades businesses against the following criteria during inspections:

  • Hygienic food handling - Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
  • Management of food safety - System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene.

According to the FSA, both of the eateries that were inspected on August 21 were graded as being four-out-of-five for food hygiene.

Cafe at the Outset:

  • Hygienic food handling - good
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - very good
  • Management of food safety - generally satisfactory

Panku:
