A BARTENDER has been stripped of her licence after driving home from a Lymm pub while being more than double legal limit.
Adele Spearen, of Chapel Lane Bucklow Hill, was swerving between lanes in her BMW when an unmarked police car stopped her.
Prosecuting, Laura Davig said: “On September 3 at 11.30pm, an officer in an unmarked vehicle on Rushgreen Road saw the defendant exceed the speed limit.”
Ms Davig told Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday that the 48-year-old was stopped near the Green Dragon pub in Lymm by officers before she was made to take a breathalyser test.
Spearen, who was described as ‘unsteady on her feet’ when officers approached her, failed the roadside test.
She provided a lowest reading of 81 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of her breath – more than double the legal limit.
Defending, Mr Colin said: “She is dearly remorseful. She tenders a guilty plea at the first opportunity.
“On the eve of the incident, the defendant was driving back to a friend’s house.
“She is of exemplary good character. I don’t think this woman will be seen in court again.”
Chair of the bench Lynn Colter-Howard concluded the hearing, saying: “We have no option but to disqualify you from driving for 17 months.”
Spearen also owes the court £701.
