A BELOVED father and son died in a motorcycle accident in Portugal.
Lee Hutchins died last year on a holiday in Portugal, aged 41, after a crash on a rented motorcycle at the Palms Garden Hotel.
An inquest was held today, September 20, for the 41-year-old, who lived in Widnes and was born in Chester.
Area Coroner Victoria Davies opened proceedings at Cheshire Coroner’s Court sitting in Warrington by outlining the basic details of Lee’s death.
She read the court a statement from Lee’s father, who said Lee took a rented motorcycle on May 16, 2022, and went to drive to a shop from the hotel resort. On the way, the Widnes resident was involved in a crash.
The court then heard confirmation that, through toxicology reports made in both the UK and Portugal, no drugs were found in his system.
Coroner Davies did state that there was a level of alcohol found in his system, but that it was not significant enough to be included in the cause of death.
The cause of death was officially listed in the inquest as ‘multiple injuries’, with Coroner Davies saying: "He lost control of a rented motorbike, and crashed into a concrete pillar."
In a fundraiser on Macmillan in tribute of Lee, the description said:
“Lee was a generous, loving and caring son, father and friend. His daughters were his world and they were always his priority, no matter what.
“Macmillan has been chosen as the charity for donations in memory of Lee, as this was a charity close to his heart.
“This tribute is dedicated to our loving son and devoted father, Lee, who was taken too soon from our lives.”
Almost £1,000 has already been raised, with donations available here.
