GLAZEBURY All Saints church, off Warrington Road, is set to welcome back a familiar face this weekend.
Canon Bob Lewis is set to be licensed as being responsible for the parish church - a church which he has already overseen in years gone by.
Rarely does a priest return to serve in parishes where he has previously been vicar but Canon Bob Lewis is to become responsible for Glazebury All Saints for a third time.
He will be formally licensed at a service at Hollinfare to be conducted by the Archdeacon of Warrington, the Venerable Simon Fisher, on Sunday, September 24.
Bob and his wife Pauline came to Warrington when he was appointed rector of Newchurch and Glazebury after which they moved to St Oswald's, Winwick.
Bob was ordained at Liverpool Cathedral in 1978 and served his curacy at Liverpool Parish Church before becoming youth officer for the diocese.
More recently he has been chaplain of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores universities and also Dwelly Raven canon at the cathedral, combining this role with being the priest in charge of St Margaret's, Toxteth.
During his ministry, Bob has also served as the Bishop’s planning officer and advisor for pastoral care and chaplaincy.
He was twice elected chair of the diocesan House of Clergy and has been a canon for more than 20 years.
He and his wife Pauline have been married for 44 years and they have a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren.
