A TOWN centre artisan bakery is getting ready to say joyeux anniversaire and celebrate its second birthday.

Gourmand! opened its doors on September 21, 2021 offering French fancies and treats to hungry customers.

Over the past two years, owners Julien Ramos and Olivia Le have welcomed visitors from all over Warrington, keen to experience the café, boulangerie and patisserie.

There will be special offers and giveaways from Wednesday to Saturday to celebrate Gourmand’s second anniversary with a special three course menu on Thursday, special cakes and treats as well as a lottery where customers can win food, drink and gift cards.

Gourmand! is the couple’s first business and they wanted to bring something unique and authentically French to Warrington.

Olivia said: “Two years ago we opened a place that we wanted customers to love visiting and be served good food in the way we would be served in France.

“Two years later and we are so proud of how far we have come and where we are now.

“We have won numerous awards and accolades and it’s great to see the customers embrace our café with such enthusiasm.”

Last year, Gourmand! won Warrington’s Best Café award and the business was shortlisted in this year’s Best Café, Best for Breakfast and Best for Dessert categories.

The popular place was also shortlisted in this year’s Best Croissant in the UK organised by Isigny Ste Mere, the supplier of special butter used for French pastries.

Julien said: “It is hard to keep a small, independent business alive and thriving, especially trying to keep it authentic and traditional.

“The rising costs of production is averaging around a 40 per cent increase on ingredients with a 70 per cent increase on the flour imported from France.

“Many of our customers say that the food, the smell and the atmosphere in our café remind them of holidays and time spent in France.

“It’s all about creating feelings and memories with food and drink.”

Julien and Olivia returned to Callands Primary School earlier this year to introduce the Year 5 children to French food and culture, which formed part of their studies on France and the French language.

Olivia said: “We are so thankful for the support of our good food lovers as they are the real heart of our business.

“We love seeing everyone enjoying the authentic French food experience with quality food and drink.

“We’d love to welcome existing customers and new visitors to the café this week so we can celebrate our second birthday together.

“Merci beaucoup et bon appétit!”
