A MENTAL health support group will host an event in Warrington to raise funds and awareness.

Mental Health Mates (MHM) was created by Bryony Gordon, and an event will be held in Warrington as part of a nationwide initiative for the group.

Joining up with dozens of walks across the UK, MHM Woolson will be heading out at 11am on September 23 to remind all of those in the local community of the power of movement and connection.

Bryony will be leading a walk from London’s Hyde Park at 11am on Saturday, September 23, and virtually ‘meeting up’ with Mental Health Mates volunteer-led walks across the country throughout the morning, to celebrate the community that has been created since its inception in 2016.

Diane Andrews is the MHM walk leader for Warrington, she said: "The Woolston walk was set up six months ago.

"After my eldest daughter and grandson moved back to New Zealand, I was conscious that I needed to take care of my mental health and I had been looking for a weekend peer support walk, so I decided to approach MHM.

"Our walks take place on the first Saturday of each month at 11am - the walk is open to all ages, and friendly dogs too.

"The walk provides a safe space to talk and support without fear of judgement with like-minded people.

"We walk at Woolston Park on level pathways - so the walk is very accessible."

Diane added: "It's a very gentle stroll that takes around 45 minutes and then we finish off we drinks and biscuits at the green cabin, hosted by the Friends of Woolston Park.

"There is no expectation to talk or to stay for the whole event; do as much, or as little, as you like."

The MHM walk will take place at Woolston Park on Saturday, September 23, from 11am - more information about MHM can be found here: https://www.mentalhealthmates.co.uk/
