FAST food giant McDonald's has been given permission to alter its car park on Winwick Road.
The site is one of the chain's 24-hour restaurants in the town, and is known to be incredibly popular.
Plans were submitted to the planning department at Warrington Borough Council concerning the car parking provision at the site in February.
As per the council's online planning portal, McDonald's applied for permission to introduce two new electric vehicle charging bays to its car park on Winwick Road.
Issuing a decision on Thursday, August 31, town hall planners have given the fast food conglomerate permission to install the new parking spaces.
There were no objections to the plans received from the relevant highways and environment departments at the council.
Included in the plans was an argument in favour of e-vehicles from McDonald's, via InstaVolt: "Electric vehicles are crucial to help reduce CO2 emissions.
"Electric vehicles do not produce any exhaust emissions during their operation and as such the government is pushing for the increased adoption of electric vehicles to help decarbonise our economy.
"As the number of electric vehicles on the road increases so does the need for the infrastructure - number of charging points - required to support the vehicles.
"Furthermore, having a robust network of chargers already in place should enable the ease of transition from petrol/diesel to electric for consumers in the near future.
"The charging units proposed here will help contribute to a much wider network nationally."
Plans continue: "The whole installation should only take around one week, and if removed daily, there should not be any build-up of waste."
It concludes: "The two proposed EV charging units at McDonald’s, Winwick Road will provide essential infrastructure for the area and will utilise the latest DC rapid charging technology which is accessible for all EV drivers to use."
