A GYM in Woolston is set to host a 24-hour charity event that will go to support stroke survivors.
CrossFit Warrington, based off Kingsland Grange, will run a series of exercise workouts across a full day in order to raise money to support is 'Phoenix' classes.
The Phoenix classes are organised by the gym, and are aimed at providing exercise classes for those who have survived a stroke.
Money is needed in order to help the gym prepare the facilities for winter, when attendees need the space to be kept at certain temperatures.
Funds are also being raised in order to ensure that the gym can afford to keep the classes going.
CrossFit Warrington has already received lots of support from local businesses, including:
- La Beau Fleur, Manchester Road
- AMODA Beauty, Stockton Heath
- Butter Wouldn’t Melt Bakery, Stockton Heath
- BREW, Stockton Heath
- Zalo’s, Stockton Heath
- The Lemon Tree, Stockton Heath
- Billy Goat Barbers, Stockton Heath
- LD24, Stockton Heath
The gym has already successfully fundraised in order to have defibrillators installed at various points across Woolston, and is hoping that this fundraiser will be just as successful.
Sarah Lunn, one of the gym's owners, said: "We are about to do a huge push to raise funds to allow us to continue our Phoenix classes and have some star guests coming along.
"We are running a 24-hour WODATHON - a workout every hour for 24 hours from Friday, August 25, at 9am to Saturday, August 26, at 10am.
"Our Phoenix athletes will also be coming along throughout the day to support us.
"The St Helen’s Women’s Rugby Team and winners of the Challenge Cup at Wembley are joining us for our final workout, and in true CrossFit tradition we have written a ‘hero’ workout for them.
"There will be a winner's shirt to raffle as well."
Sarah added: "If people would like to come along and take part in one or more workouts they can book here: https://crossfitwarrington.wodify.com/OnlineSalesPortal/PurchaseByKeyEntry.aspx?Key=QsSZI29uudIpZLJ8u4B7IVJw8."
