POLICE have attended an unauthorised traveller encampment in the town centre.
The group, which has set up on private land on Centre Park, consists of around three caravans and their associated vehicles.
The encampment on Firecrest Court was first reported to police at around 6pm last night, Monday.
This afternoon, Tuesday, gypsy and traveller liaison officers attended the privately owned site to ‘pay passing attention’.
And a Cheshire Police spokesperson has confirmed that the landowner has hired bailiffs to attend the site.
Elsewhere in the town, travellers have pitched up on Dallam Playing Fields.
Cheshire Police officers were called to attend the site, with a number of police cars spotted, while a gypsy and traveller liaison officer is also due to visit.
