Around nine caravans and associated towing vehicles pitched up on in Dallam yesterday evening, Monday.

Residents saw the convoy approaching and then entering Dallam Playing Fields before setting up camp there.

Cheshire Police officers were called to attend the site, with a number of police cars spotted, while a gypsy and traveller liaison officer is also due to visit.

It is believed that at least some of the traveller group moved onto the site from a previous unauthorised encampment nearby.

Warrington Guardian:

Caravans were seen leaving Winwick Quay last night before arriving at the Dallam site.

This latest incursion comes days after Bank Quay Bulls Rugby Club held its annual Bundy Day festival at Dallam Playing Fields.

Last year, the event was under threat due to another unauthorised traveller camp on the fields, but thankfully, it has been able to go ahead both years.

Residents have raised concerns that players from the rugby club will now not be able to train on the fields due to the presence of caravans and potential damage to the grass.
