A HISTORIC building in south Warrington which has elements dating back to the 1600s is to be restored,
Plans had been submitted to Warrington Borough Council’s planning department for listed building consent relating to Stretton Hall.
The Grade II-listed structure, on Hall Lane in Stretton, has oldest parts which were constructed back in 1664.
Work is to take place to refurbish and protect the original building, including a re-modelling of areas to the rear.
Among the proposals approved by the council is the demolition of existing extensions and the formation of a new replacement extensions.
The areas to be demolished include ‘incongruous and much-later additions’ to the original 17th century building, which was also restored in the 19th century.
The parts to be removed include single storey sections from 1974 and later extensions from around 1994.
Documents submitted as part of the application add: “The proposals are to fully repair the listed building, including correcting previous inappropriate and unsympathetic repairs from previous owners.”
