LYMM Sixth Form celebrated a successful year as students receive the ‘best ever results’ across the board.

Head of the sixth form Mrs Jennings admitted being ‘over the moon’ with the outcome after A-Level results were revealed to beaming students this morning, Thursday.

With tensions building on the lead up to the day amid fears of pressure on university places, nearly all Lymm students secured places at their chosen institution – many going on to some of the most prestigious universities in the country.

“I’m absolutely over the moon for the students,” Mrs Jennings said. “This is the cohort who didn’t sit GCSE exams because of Covid, which means they missed out on the benefit of the experience of sitting public exams – so the whole process has been even more nerve-wracking than normal.

“I am so proud of the way they have handled everything and just delighted to see them doing so well.”

Charlotte Price was one of the excited faces in the crowd this morning receiving her results.

She impressively achieved A*, A, A in geography, chemistry and biology.

"I am so relieved because I am doing medicine and I have an offer at Liverpool University for a deferred year,” she said.

“I want to go into emergency medicine.”

High achieving students from this year included the likes of Ben Bowler and Isabelle Rogers who achieved straight A*s in their chosen subjects.

Special congratulations were given to the following students, all of who gained at least three A*/A grades: Rachel Beattie, Oscar Bode-Hey, Atticus Burnett, Adam Case, Sally Dodd, Isabelle Elliott, Charlie Evans, Tom Fowler, Arianna Good, Anya Grieve, Anna Hodgkinson, Niamh Johnson, Holly Matthews, Emily McConville, Nicole Nevitt, Eloise Newhouse, Lottie Price, Amélie Proctor, Lauren Slater, Saranne Wright and Olivia Wood.

A special mention was also given for Charley Benson, who scored a perfect triple starred distinction in his BTEC sport extended diploma.

Lymm High School head teacher, Gwyn Williams said: “I’m simply delighted for the students. They have not had an easy time of it, and so to come through and post results like these reflects incredibly well on them; they really do deserve all their success.

“I’m also delighted for their teachers, who have worked incredibly hard to navigate all the changes and uncertainty surrounding exams over the last few years.

“The impact of Covid on national results over the past three years means that we need to be a little careful making direct comparisons but, taking into account that we have returned to pre-Covid patterns across England, A’ level results today are the best that Lymm High School has ever had.

“Given that outcomes in the Sixth Form have been consistently excellent for some years now, this really is quite an achievement, and everyone involved deserves huge congratulations.

“It is genuinely humbling to be able to work with such fantastic staff and students, and I am a very proud Headteacher this morning.”
