ONE of Warrington Market's most popular eateries has had its food hygiene rating updated.
The Food Standards Agency is responsible for inspecting eating establishments to ensure they are compliant with food safety regulations, and regularly updates the rating for eateries.
Cafe at the End of the Universe, which can be found in Warrington Market, is one of six establishments that has recently seen its rating revised by the Food Standards Agency.
There is often a delay between an inspection and the results being made publicly available on the FSA website, which can take days or weeks to update.
Establishments that have seen their ratings updated are:
- Welcome Back Cafe, Bewsey Road - rated on August 2
- San Lorenzo, Palmyra Square - rated on July 31
- Cafe at the End of the Universe, Warrington Market - rated on July 11
- Dark Side of the Spoon, Warrington Market - rated on July 5
- Subway, Apollo Park - rated on August 2
- Subway, Manchester Road - rated on July 27
The establishments are inspected with regard to the following criteria:
- Hygienic food handling - Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage
- Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene
- Management of food safety - System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future
Each establishment was awarded the following food hygiene rating - which is graded between zero and five:
- Subway, Apollo Park - Five
- Subway, Manchester Road - Five
- Welcome Back Cafe - Five
- San Lorenzo - Five
- Cafe at the End of the Universe - Three
- Dark Side of the Spoon - Three
