A HEARTBROKEN cat owner was reunited with her beloved pet more than two years after she went missing.
Winwick resident Jade Webb never lost hope that she would find her beautiful house cat Marbles after her initial disappearance back in June 2021 – but had no idea she was living only a mile away from her home.
The unique-looking cat whose name accurately reflects the marbled appearance of her fur, first went missing on June 3, 2021.
34-year-old Jade had micro-chipped Marbles and so reported her missing on the microchip database that same day.
She also shared countless missing posts on community Facebook pages with the hope someone would spot her and bring her home.
“After a year passed, I didn't think I would ever see her again and assumed the worst had happened, but I continued to share in hope someone could have seen her,” Jade explained.
Last Monday, July 17, Jade received a call from the local vets she had been envisioning for more than two years.
Marbles had been handed in by a lady as a stray cat that seemed injured.
“The lady had been feeding her in the garden for approximately six months and gained enough trust to get her in a carrier and take her to a vet,” Jade said.
After the lady explained this to an employee at the vets practice, they scanned Marbles chip and immediately found Jades contact information which enabled them to reunite the pair.
“Marbles wasn't even 1 mile away from where she had originally gone missing from,” Jade added.
The cat owner highlighted how her story emphasised the importance of microchipping pets in case these circumstances should ever arise.
Speaking of the moment she was re-united with her furry feline, she said: “The feeling of being informed she had been found and was alive was so overwhelming.
“I cried happy tears when we were reunited in the waiting area at the vets that even the lady on reception cried with me it was so emotional and heart-warming.
“Marbles recognised me and her dad Matt straight away, she is settling in nicely at home and enjoying lots of human cuddles again.
“Every time people speak to me asking where she has been and what happened the day we were contacted I still keep getting choked up trying to tell them the story, I just can't believe that she is home again after two years.”
